Background:
Velyra is a deep space scientific researcher. While on a mission light years from her home, her entire planet and species was destroyed by a race of machines from another galaxy. It was an alien intelligence of machine warriors who once destroyed their creators millions of years ago, now travel the Universe exterminating all other forms of life. When they arrived in Velyra's star cluster, she was the only one to survive the attack. As advanced as the Dylinians are, the machine warriors are even so much more advanced that they don't even need ships to travel through space. Even to the Dylinians, the machine technology seems magical. The entire purpose of the machines is the search and destruction of all other life forms in the Universe. Velyra now hides, usually in subspace, and travels the Universe with her super technological ship from her mission seeding others planets to create life.
Objective:
To travel throughout the Universe seeding planets that can support life. She must now fight and hide from the super technological machines that are constantly after her and her creations.
Intelligence:
What has allowed the Dylinians to super advance their technology is their naturally extreme cognitive ability. Even when compared to the rest of her species, Velyra is considered highly intelligent. She can have conscious out-of-body experiences and even telekinesis with objects of small mass.

Technology:
Think of how advanced humans are today. Most of these advancements have been made only in the past few hundred years and Homo erectus humans have only been around for about two million years. On a cosmic scale even millions of years is very short time for the Universe. What if a species began their technological advancements millions of years before humans? They would be so advanced that to 21st century human, their technology seems magical. This is the Dylinian technology that Velyra's ship is endowed with.
Strength:
She does not need to sleep ever. Her technology can recharge her brain an unlimited amount of times so she never sleeps and is always sharp-minded. It is because of this that she is so productive and efficient.
Weakness:
Part of what is happening when a brain is sleeping, is that it is reorganizing thoughts and memories to more efficient neural configurations. Although her brain is infinitely recharged she does have to meditate for only a short time to avoid the need for sleep. Remember that Velyra is totally alone and that none of her natural instincts of family and social interaction are ever being nurtured. After each meditation she must inject herself with a hormonal serum that suppresses her desires for social and sexual interaction.
